Sept. 11 Remembrance

More than 700 American flags have been planted on the lawns surrounding Alumni Plaza in remembrance of the attacks from Sept. 11, 2001. Signage will be on-site to highlight critical timeline moments Wednesday, Sept. 11. Moments of silence can be observed in place, wherever you may be on campus, at 8:46 a.m., 9:03 a.m., 9:37 a.m. and 10:03 a.m. The campus community is invited to attend a tribute, performed by the Kutztown Pipe Band, 10:15-10:30 a.m., Alumni Plaza, to honor the lives that were lost and all who have been affected by these tragic events. Following the tribute, attendees can stay as long as they wish to reflect on their memory of the day. In addition, attendees can visit the tree that was planted and plaque placed in front of Old Main in memory of Gary Haag ’87. Rohrbach Library will have a display highlighting timelines and remembrance remarks, including an authentic Danbury Mint 9/11 World Trade Center Twin Towers model. A beautiful 9/11 mural, painted by a KU alum, is on display on the second floor of the Bear’s Den in the McFarland Student Union. Sept. 11 is Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance. The campus community is encouraged to perform a good deed or service on this day to keep the spirit of unity and community care alive. This year, the 9/11 Memorial and Museum is allowing tributes to be posted on their Remember the Sky Remembrance Wall. Thank you for your support. Fall Fest for Success

We are thrilled to invite you to Fall Fest for Success, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10, 218 MSU. This event is designed with one goal in mind: to proactively connect our students with the resources they need for a successful semester. As the semester kicks off, it's essential for students to be aware of and utilize the vast array of resources available on campus. By connecting early, students can avoid the common pitfalls and challenges that often arise later in the term. This event aims to shift the approach from reactive to proactive, ensuring that our Golden Bears have the support they need from the start. You can expect:
-
Engaging Activities and Games: Break the ice and have some fun.
- Meet Campus Services: Put faces to names and discover how they can help you.
-
Meet and Greet Moses: Come and say hi to Moses, the therapy dog in the Office of Student Assistance.
-
Success Tips: Learn practical advice to make your semester smoother.

Your students' participation is crucial. Not only will they gain valuable insights and connections, but your presence also helps foster a supportive and connected community. By attending, you contribute to an environment where everyone feels empowered to succeed. Plus, the more the merrier - bring your friends and make it a day to remember. Have questions? Reach out to Jess Hainley or Samantha LaFlame. We're here to help and ensure you have an amazing experience. Don't miss out on this opportunity to set yourself up for success.
