PASSHE STEM Research Conference

PASSHE STEM Research Conference Was A Success

Kutztown University hosted the PASSHE STEM Student Research Conference Saturday, Nov. 11. The meeting was a great success and attracted nearly 100 student and faculty participants from five PASSHE universities, including Kutztown, Commonwealth, Indiana, Penn West and West Chester. A total of 42 research projects were presented in both poster and oral presentation formats. The keynote speaker, Caelen Brooks, a KU alum and third-year Physics Ph.D. student at Harvard University, spoke about her journey to graduate school, her research experience at KU and her current research project at Harvard. She also provided valuable advice for the undergraduate student researchers. Four students received best presentation awards in the following STEM categories:
 - Category A - Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics and Engineering: Sai Sravya Anem from West Chester University.
 - Category B - Biology: Eilie Holland from Commonwealth University.
 - Category C - Geosciences and Chemistry: Jaylin Calistro from Kutztown University.
 - Category D - Marine Sciences, Geography, Environmental Sciences, Astronomy and Psychology: Philip Jahn from Kutztown University.
The conference organizers, Yun Lu, Eric Laub, and Brooks Emerick, appreciate the support received from the offices and departments including the provost's office, the CLAS dean's office, the Office of Grants and Sponsored Projects, the Department of Mathematics, as well as the support from all STEM faculty volunteers to make this event a success.

Three Golden Bears Selected to D2CCA All-Super Region 1 Football Team

Three student-athletes from the PSAC champion Kutztown University football team were named to the Division 2 Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-Super Region 1 Teams, Thursday. Linebacker Tyler Whary, the 2023 PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Year, and punter Nate Millard were First Team picks, while guard Adam Kase secured a spot on the Second Team offense. For all three players, the all-region selection is the first of their respective careers.

Football Fan Bus - Limited Seats Remain

Limited seats remain (20) on the university's three fan busses for the Golden Bear football national-quarterfinal game at Slippery Rock University noon Saturday, Dec. 2. Bus departs 6 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, from the E-2 parking lot at the Student Recreation Center and will return to campus immediately following the game. Register by noon today, Friday, Dec. 1, by emailing athletics@kutztown.edu with the names and emails of all individuals who wish to reserve a spot. Individuals are responsible for purchasing game tickets (purchase game tickets online). Join the KU cheerleaders and travel to Slippery Rock to cheer the Golden Bears to victory.
