KU BEARS Research Student Presents to Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology
KU geology major Sierra Smart presented the results of her summer research project to the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeologists, John Schrader Chapter 21. The project entailed several days of data collection with ground-penetrating radar and magnetometry to produce detailed geophysical maps of subsurface variations and structures. The results will be used to guide future archaeological excavations of the site. This research was funded through the 2024 KU BEARS grant program.

Bilal Salaam Farewell
Bilal Salaam, Athletics DEI Officer and AIMS Program Coordinator, has accepted an offer at another institution. While we are sad to see him go, it is a great opportunity for him and his family and we wish him all the best in his next chapter. Salaam is a two-time KU alumnus, a KU Athletics Hall of Famer, a mentor to students, an advocate and advisor to several student organizations, and an exceptional student affairs and athletics administrator and educator. He will be missed. His last event will be hosting the AIMS Family Dinner Sunday, Oct. 20. If you would like to say farewell, you are invited to join us for a reception 3-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 250 MSU.
