On-Campus Internship and Job Fair

Staff and faculty: please remind your students that the on-campus KU Internship and Job Fair is noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 218 MSU. There will be more than 80 employers attending. Students need to come professionally dressed and with copies of their resumes. Students can view the employers coming to the fair on their Handshake account, as well as making an appointment for the Career Closet for professional clothing. In addition, students can get a free professional headshot at the fair. If you have any questions, please call 610-683-4067.

Employee Flu Vaccine Clinic

Flu vaccines for employees will be offered 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, Student Recreation Center, South Studio. This is a walk-in clinic; appointment times will not be assigned. A Rite Aid pharmacist will administer the vaccines. To receive a flu shot, please register here so that we have a count for the pharmacist. Please bring your CVS Caremark card (AFSCME/SCUPA) or Highmark Blue Shield card (all others).

Join us 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 203 Academic Forum, for the Red Sand Project in collaboration with the Lehigh Valley Anti-Trafficking Collaborative. Participate in an interactive display, listen to a panel presentation and connect with advocates and service providers.

Temporary Faculty Committee Office Hours

The Temporary Faculty Committee will hold a series of five open office hours throughout the semester. These are for temporary faculty to consult with union representatives about any issue they might need help navigating. Professor Hank Alviani will be hosting the second hour this semester and will be available in his office 11 a.m. to noon today, Tuesday, Oct. 15, 115B Old Main. Open Hour with Provost (Time Change)

Faculty, staff and students are invited to drop by and chat with Dr. Lorin Basden Arnold, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, during her open office hour 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, Old Main concourse. Oral Communication Rating Day

Oral Communication Rating Day will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, McFarland Student Union Building. Volunteers will go through a norming session together before lunch. Pairs will then break off to assess and rate student work products from SLO1 Cat 3-4 oral communication only. Written communication for this SLO was rated in May 2024, leaving only a few dozen student work products presented orally to rate. Volunteers should plan to attend the entire day; the norming process is required to participate in the rating sessions. Please plan to bring a laptop and possibly headphones. Please feel free to share this information with your colleagues and encourage them to attend. A reminder will be sent a week prior to the event.
