ARU 535 Students Collaborate at Chincoteague Bay Field Station

As part of the course, "ARU 535: Discover! Science and Art Integration for K-12 Educators", 10 graduate students and K-12 educators in the fields of art or science education spent four days this summer at the Chincoteague Bay Field Station on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. They explored the interface of the art and sciences to expand and dissolve disciplinary boundaries. Through collaborative learning, fieldwork, and art making, participants discovered how contemporary artists merge relevant, current scientific topics such as humans' impact on the environment to build curriculum and inspire arts-based research. The institute was collaboratively led by Dr. Erin Kraal and Dr. Amy Pfeiler-Wunder.
