The search committee leadership contracted Storbeck Search as the firm to assist our search committee with the process of identifying Kutztown University’s next leader. One of the important aspects of the search is to solicit feedback on what we are seeking in our next president from various campus stakeholders. Storbeck will be on campus Thursday, Nov. 21, to hold input sessions with seven different stakeholder groups. Kutztown University faculty and staff are invited to attend the following stakeholder input sessions with Storbeck representatives:
- Faculty: 11 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Nov. 21, 250 MSU.
- Staff: 1-2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 250 MSU.
Thank you for your assistance in this important process and we hope to see you Thursday, Nov. 21.

12th Annual UNESCO World Philosophy Day Lecture
The Department of Philosophy and Government present the 12th Annual UNESCO World Philosophy Day Lecture, 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 183 MSU. The lecture is titled "Knowledge is Action: What This Means and Why it Matters," by Professor Ernest Sosa, Board of Governors Distinguished Professor of Philosophy, Rutgers University. Sosa is one of the most famous contemporary philosophers and has been described as "one of the most important epistemologists of the last half-century." In this lecture, Sosa will argue that the nature of human knowledge has been a central concern of philosophical reflection across cultures and millennia. He will first touch on some highlights of this shared human interest across a diversity of cultures and will then focus on a positive contemporary account. On this account, human knowledge turns out to be a form of action, so that the place of human knowledge in our lives and our assessment of it, fall into place as a special case of the assessment of human action. He will consider how this matters and what it explains. Sosa is a past president of the American Philosophical Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. He edits the philosophical journals Noûs and Philosophy and Phenomenological Research. In 2005, he delivered the John Locke Lectures at Oxford, which formed the basis of his 2007 book. Sosa received the 2010 Nicholas Rescher Prize for contributions to systematic philosophy. More information on Sosa can be found online.
