The Washington Center Academic Seminar
Thirteen KU students were awarded scholarships from the commonwealth to participate this week in The Washington Center’s academic seminar “Inside Washington,” led by Dr. Marco Erhl. The students from various KU majors are learning about hot-button issues in policy, media, business and politics in a bipartisan environment.

Finally more in the way of some appreciable partial sunshine today, but at the price of a downward step in temperatures thanks to the effects of a cold front. However, temperatures will still be above normal for January. Expect highs around 54 degrees with light west winds.

Mileage Reimbursement Rate 2023
In accordance with a change in the U.S. General Services Administration's privately owned vehicle mileage reimbursement rates and Board of Governors’ Policy 1986-07-A, Travel Expense Regulations, the reimbursement rate for use of a personal automobile for official State System travel will increase to $0.655 effective as of Jan. 1. This only applies to travel that occurs on/after Jan. 1. Any travel that took place from July 1 to Dec. 31, 2022, will utilize the previous rate of $0.625. John Metcalf Memorial Service
A memorial service for Dr. John Metcalf will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at Calvary Bible Fellowship Church, 4891 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, PA 19608, 610-678-5166. Metcalf, professor emeritus of music, taught at KU from 1990-2021. Please join me in offering our thoughts and prayers to his wife Donna and children (also former KU students) Emily '18, Angela and Abigail.
