The New Frederick Douglass Institute Grand Re-Opening

The New Frederick Douglass Institute (FDI) invites the campus community to celebrate our grand re-opening and Black History Month at the Multicultural Center Tuesday, Feb. 7. We begin the day at 10 a.m. with a convocation and announcements about our new programming. Dr. Richard Benson (The University of Pittsburgh), a highly accomplished historian, will deliver his lecture “Radical activism beyond a dream: Examining the unknown Dr. Martin Luther King Jr." at 11 a.m. The Q & A takes place at 2 p.m. At 3:30 p.m. FDI will kick off Kutztown University’s African American Read In—a 30+ year initiative to encourage reading together, centering Black books and authors. Bring your favorite book by a Black author (or choose from FDI’s library) and share a passage. Faculty, staff and students are welcome to attend, but seating is limited. Refreshments will be served. RSVP to fdouglass@kutztown.edu.
