Daily Brief
Feb. 3, 2023
Weather
Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger
Strong Canadian high moves south bringing arctic air with it. Sunny, but blustery, conditions are expected. High temperature near 22. Winds gusting to 35 mph.
Campus weather experts Monsoon Mike and Dr. Michael Davis recorded a new approximately 15-minute podcast detailing why this winter has been so warm and snowless; will it last; and how KU students will be helping forecast the weather on KUR in the coming weeks. Click here for the podcast.
KUR is more than an extra-curricular campus activity. More and more, the station is becoming an academic component for classes. Contact Mike Regensburger at regensbu@kutztown.edu for more information on how KUR can help enhance your class.
Announcements
Winter Weather Precautions
Cold weather is upon us again. Please be sure all windows and doors that open to the outside are kept closed. Open windows and/or doors can let cold air in the building causing pipes to freeze and burst. Let's stay warm and dry this winter.

The New Frederick Douglass Institute Grand Re-Opening
The New Frederick Douglass Institute (FDI) invites the campus community to celebrate our grand re-opening and Black History Month at the Multicultural Center Tuesday, Feb. 7. We begin the day at 10 a.m. with a convocation and announcements about our new programming. Dr. Richard Benson (The University of Pittsburgh), a highly accomplished historian, will deliver his lecture “Radical activism beyond a dream: Examining the unknown Dr. Martin Luther King Jr." at 11 a.m. The Q & A takes place at 2 p.m. At 3:30 p.m. FDI will kick off Kutztown University’s African American Read In—a 30+ year initiative to encourage reading together, centering Black books and authors. Bring your favorite book by a Black author (or choose from FDI’s library) and share a passage. Faculty, staff and students are welcome to attend, but seating is limited. Refreshments will be served. RSVP to fdouglass@kutztown.edu.
