KU Faculty and Jazz Ensemble to Perform Piece Commissioned by Grammy Award-Winning Composer

Kutztown University Jazz Ensemble I will perform “Hibiscus,” commissioned by the ensemble from Geoff Keezer, winner of the 2023 Grammy for Best Instrumental Composition for “Refuge” from his recent album “Playdate.” Written for classical pianist, jazz bassist and large jazz ensemble, this piece will be performed at its world premiere 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, Schaeffer Auditorium. The event is free to attend and open to the public.

KU Composition Conference

The KUCC celebrates excellent students in writing and composition. All KU faculty, staff and students are welcome to attend panels throughout the day, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, April 17, McFarland Student Union. Piano Palooza

The Department of Music will present the annual Piano Palooza with works for two pianos/multi pianists and percussionists by Bach, Bartok, Copland, Lutoslawski, Schubert, Rachmaninoff and Schnittke. The performers include faculty, students and alumni, as well as invited guest faculty and students from Greece.
